Modified Starches
We present our clients with an extensive gamut of modified starch that finds application in diverse industries and applications. Provided in accurate composition, the starch offered by us is custom-made and economically priced.
Supplied as a free flowing white powder, the cationic starch offered by us is used in the paper making industry to improve the dry strength of the finished sheet and the retention of fines and fillers. Cationic starch is preferred because it is introduced with a positive charge which helps in better retention of the starch in the paper web. Typically either potato or maize based, this starch has the following technical specification: • Number of cationic groups (degree of substitution) typically ranges from 2 per 100 starch monomers up to 10 wherein most cationic wet end starches have DS between 0.03 and 0.06 |

| Oxidized Starch used in paper industries. It is manufactured from highly refined starch with controlled conditions of SOP Oxidation is the only type of modification where two different forms of modification take place simultaneously – a degrading and stabilization like the acetylation • Native starches are treated with a variety of oxidizing agents. • Oxidized starches have shorter chain lengths than native starches. • It improves whiteness and reduces microbiological content. In addition, the hydrogen bonding reduces the tendency to retro gradation. • It producing soft-bodied gels of high clarity, • Oxidized starches are the best thickener for applications requiring gels of low rigidity. It improves adhesion. • Oxidized starch is widely used in surface sizing for paper industry and for warp sizing in textile industry. • It is used as a wet end additive for surface treatment of the paper & board • It improves the surface strength and provides hold out of printing inks The oxidized starches - in high concentrations - are characterized by giving a very low viscosity during boiling and a very high viscosity during cooling due to the high content of dry matter It Improved printability and pigment coating.
